Ford isn’t out-of-shape in the least bit, but, he is set to become the oldest action star at the movies.” And now, we have Variety writing ‘Harrison Ford Injured While Filming ‘Indiana Jones 5.” Well, gee, what a shocker. The trade reports that Ford “sustained a shoulder injury on the set of “Indiana Jones 5,” requiring the actor to take a hiatus from filming while treatment is evaluated.” “In the course of rehearsing for a fight scene, Harrison Ford sustained an injury involving his shoulder,” a Disney spokesperson said in a statement. “Production will continue while the appropriate course of treatment is evaluated, and the filming schedule will be reconfigured as needed in the coming weeks.” “Indiana Jones 5” started filming in the UK last month. Steven Spielberg will not be directing the fifth instalment. Instead, it has been confirmed that director James Mangold (“Ford v Ferrari,” “Logan”) will be taking over directing duty. Mangold is a solid studio filmmaker, but one wonders if the Indiana Jones series has any juice left in its reservoir. The last good movie in the franchise was “Indiana Jones and The Last Crusade,” which was released almost 31 years ago. Time to move on? Mangold and company clearly don’t believe that to be the case.
