According to IonCinema, which reaffirms what we first learned from a casting call this past summer, Sciamma has started shooting her next film in Paris, this one titled “Petite Maman.” Based on the description in the notice, Sciamma’s film may involve two young girls, potentially twins, named Nelly and Marion, both aged 7-10-years-old. This could be, and sounds like, another coming-of-age story in the same vein as her pre-Portrait films, such as “Girlhood” “Water Lillies” and “Tomboy.” Plot-wise, we don’t know much else about this new project, but consider us very excited about another Sciamma making its way into theaters. I wouldn’t be surprised if it even premieres at Cannes next year. “Portrait of a Lady on Fire” cinematographer Claire Mathon will reteam with Sciamma. Lilies Films is producing.
