Waititi has built up a considerable filmography in these last 10 years, with “What We Do in the Shadows,” “Hunt for the Wilderpeople,” “Thor: Ragnarok” and “Jojo Rabbit” all receiving fanboy cult appreciation. The Kiwi director is also set to direct the upcoming MCU movie “Thor: Love & Thunder.” Suffice to say, his calendar is going to be packed post-COVID. Waititi recently directed an episode of the “Star Wars” live-action Disney+ series, “The Mandalorian.” There were rumors circulating about his directing a solo Star Wars flick for a few months now, but we finally have confirmation. It does look like a great fit for the folks over at Disney/LucasFilm, Kathleen Kennedy must be very happy that a well-liked filmmaker has agreed to hop on board what has essentially been a sinking ship, at least ever since 2017’s “The Last Jedi.” Contribute Hire me
